Leafs Cut 14 Players from Camp Roster

With the pre-season winding down, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced on Sunday that they have trimmed their training camp roster by 14 players.

The group of 14 consists of eight forwards, five defencemen, and goaltender Mark Owuya. All of the released players have been assigned to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.

Forwards
Luca Caputi, Joe Colborne, Jerry D’Amigo, Ryan Hamilton, Marcel Mueller, Kenny Ryan, Greg Scott, Mike Zigomanis

Defencemen
Jesse Blacker, Jeff Finger, Simon Gysbers, Korbinian Holzer, Juraj Mikus

Goaltender
Mark Owuya

Caputi, Finger, Zigomanis and Hamilton have all been placed on waivers. The deadline date for a waiver claim is Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Noon ET.

The Leafs also announced that Greg McKegg had previously been returned to the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League, and goaltender Jussi Rynnas was assigned to the Marlies on Sept. 22.

Following the cuts, 29 players remain on the Leafs' active roster. That group consists of 17 forwards, nine defencemen, and three goaltenders.
