After the deflating 6-1 loss to Philly on Friday, the madness of the Super Bowl that sent just about every resident of the Tampa Bay area into some sort of fog and some 'general body soreness' of my own, I kind of went into hiding this weekend.

I'm back now, just in time to solicit your emails for the first edition of JJ's Mailbag. So, here's the deal:

Drop me a line via email - [email protected] - with your questions, comments, complaints, concerns, conundrums ... you know, essentially whatever you feel like throwing my way. I'm going to let this be as "no holds barred" as possible, so I won't even ask to limit things to the Lightning, the NHL or hockey in general (though I'm quite sure the bulk of what I respond to will still fall into familiar categories).

Once I feel like I have enough to respond to and turn into a decent enough post, you'll get my answers to your queries right here.

So, fire away with whatever you like.

This should be interesting.

The Lightning have inked Norfolk Admirals goaltender Mike McKenna to an NHL contract after it was revealed that Mike Smith has some sort of upper body injury and he won't travel to Long Island with the Bolts for tomorrow night's tilt with the Islanders. Riku Helenius heads back to Norfolk to get some work in and the AHL-suspended Karri Ramo returns to the Lightning as well.

No telling whether McKenna or Ramo will play against the Isles just yet but this news certainly evens things up a bit for the NHL's worst club, who are playing well of late, having won three straight games for the second time this year. Keep an eye out for rookie forward Kyle Okposo, who has scored in four straight games and looks to be hitting his stride for New York.

Speaking of Norfolk, I haven't run an Admirals update in a while so I imagine I should catch up with them some time later this week too. (In all honesty, I got a little annoyed trying to repeatedly run down a player of theirs for an interview - to no avail, obviously - and it left sort of a bad taste in my mouth. No worries though, I've since brushed my teeth.)

Helluva football game last night, eh?

Until next time ...

JJ
