Summary:
It is difficult not to look at this as a really bad outing for Detroit. Raymond and Debrincat will not be sleeping well tonight. The Wings had ample opportunity to make a mark early in the game but as the afternoon wore on the home team looked worn out.

Florida is at the top for a reason. Emotions were running high and that’s the game Detroit can’t win right now. The physical throwback glimpse into a completely different league. Florida looked like a team that could have played in some of the more chaotic games that saw penalty boxes overflowing.

It is very difficult to find the bright side on this one. The 3rd goal looked awful away Petry turned and kicked his failed composite. The team looked deflated. This was going to be a tough game, and Detroit wasn’t equipped for it.

There’s one moment that concerns me. Kane has not looked the same since the Chicago homecoming. Normally the highest energy player in pre game seems a bit sullen after the big win. The near Hollywood finish. Yes, Detroit had an 8 goal explosion afterward but something seems to be off after the win over Washington.

The irony of Yzerman and Lidstrom looking down and watching Patrick Roy’s Islanders end the winning streak after that isn’t lost. Today’s loss, there are two ways to look at it. Either this is the glimpse at what the team needs to add to find the next level, or you move on and “goalie memory” the loss.

If they have the stomach for it, I’d put the poster on the wall. Look at it every day before practice and before every game. Look at the strength and commitment you saw from the opposition. Raymond’s miss wasn’t just a whiff. It was also Ekblad diving in. That’s a big man to make that quick move.

Detroit is now at the deadline with 2 straight losses and Yzerman has decisions to make. Opening the game with Larkin’s presser after Bertuzzi was dealt was a bit brutal. I understand the emotion being portrayed, but that’s was a tough watch.

Let me know your thoughts. Does the team come together after this or are the last 20 going to the tough sled just trying to hold on? Am I being to hard on the team or do they need to toughen up a bit? Wide open to thoughts.
