Summary:

All things come to an end, the Islanders just looked like the team that wanted the win more. After a crazy 8 goal win against Washington Detroit looked lethargic coming into this one. There’s not a lot to break down. Lyon couldn’t bail the team out and Maata’s career night wasn’t enough to get the “W”. The road doesn’t get easier as Florida is coming to town.

The logjam for the post season was complicated more as Toronto gained some space and Tampa Bay at this point has at least an overtime point. It’s a tough night and a tough end but this is a team that has shown the ability to bounce back. Florida will be a huge test that this team may not be ready for.

The Red Wings unique position will be downplayed after the loss, for sure. “See, I told you they couldn’t do it” etc. it’s up to the players in the room to change the conversation. There is still some space but a missed opportunity to gain more.

Let me know your thoughts. Can this team bounce back quickly, or will there be a slump as they faceoff against Florida.
