Summary:

You could feel the energy when it started. The camera wasn’t on Larkin when he hit the ice but the fans let you know. Saves from Reimer early on helped the team find their legs. It took over half of the game was scoreless then Fischer scored on a breakaway. NYI tied it up quickly but Copp restored the lead. The third goal was what fans had hoped to see. Larkin rips a shot for his 27th of the year.

Copp scored the game winner in the third with additional tallies by Kane and an empty netter by Larkin sealed the score. Roy lived up to his reputation pulling the goalie with over 5 minutes left. The Isles controlled the play for almost 2 mins before the captain’s tally.

Not enough can be said about the Copp-Rasmussen-Fischer line tonight. They stepped up in a big way. Edvinsson is getting decent minutes and has made some solid plays. Still learning the game at the pro level but used his reach to keep play alive at times and worked hard in this one.

Let me know your thoughts. Does Larkin help the team focus and play harder? The depth players really seem to have stepped up and Detroit has now won the season series by one point (4 to 3). This was an important win, but the team has to find success on a road trip and against some good teams. It’s the race to the finish.
