This Black Friday as you take advantage of deal upon deal and start your holiday shopping, please take a moment and consider supporting Women’s Hockey wherever and however you can. I would like to suggest that aside from the obvious of taking the girls in your life to see a professional game, think about taking the boys as well. Being a fan of women’s hockey is not gender exclusive. It is for everyone to enjoy. Some say that they miss the physical nature of the game as hitting as it is not allowed in the women’s game. However, that is just an excuse. If anything women’s hockey can be especially intense and physical (did you see the Sochi 2014 Gold Medal game?). These women are role models not just for girls but for boys as well. Children can also relate as they are not allowed hitting in most leagues. It also teaches young boys to respect women’s sports and that girls can play.

The importance of supporting the NWHL has come to a critical point where if they are unable to grow immediately grow the game, gain new fans and sponsorship, it will be in jeopardy of folding. As we know with the players recent salary cuts, the NWHL needs cash asap. On Black Friday, follow their Twitter feed as they will be announcing flash sales that will only last an hour:

Season tickets will be on sale all weekend long:

While the CWHL is not having any sales, there are exciting opportunities for Habs and Canadiennes fans to see upcoming games. This Saturday at 5:45pm, Les Canadiennes will be hosting the Brampton Thunder at Complexe Bell in Brossard, where the Canadiens practice. It is an excellent chance to take advantage of some great shopping at Quartier dix/30 and then catch some great women’s hockey. Even more exciting is that the on December 10th, Les Canadiennes will play the Calgary Inferno at the Bell Centre. At the moment these are the top two teams in the CWHL and there could be up to 10 Olympians in the lineup as well as future ones! Tickets only cost $15 tax included.

In league game action this week:

CWHL:

Saturday:
Brampton Thunder vs. Montreal Canadiennes at 5:45pm, Complexe Brossard
Boston Blades vs Calgary Inferno 7:30pm MT

Sunday:
Boston Blades vs Calgary Inferno 10:30am MT
Brampton Thunder vs Montreal Canadiennes

There are no games in the NWHL this holiday weekend.

Cheers and follow along!
