No Luck For Sens In Draft Lottery

So I will throw my "no luck" post here along with the 11 or so other teams who missed out on the top 3, as the Maple Leafs won the draft lottery, the Jets will pick second and the Blue Jackets third. Edmonton will drop to 4th, the fifth time in 6 years that they will pick in the top 5 and finally might take a defenseman to hep build around.

Ottawa stayed put in the 12 hole, a little disappointing for the franchise but not unexpected given the odds.

The top 8 are pretty much set when you look at most projections - Auston Matthews, Patrik Laine, Jesse Puljujarvi, Matthew Tkachuk, PierreLuc Dubois, Alex Nylander, Jacob Chychrun and Olli Juolevi in some combination.

Then there is the next group that will have some question marks but a lot of potential including big center Logan Brown, little center Tyson Jost, slick snipers Julien Gauthier and Kiefer Bellows, and defensemen Jake Bean and Mikhail Sergachyov.

There will be talent available when Ottawa steps to the podium to make the first pick in the Pierre Dorion era. The key will be making the right pick for the future and then making the right decisions in developing that player.

At least now that we know where they will be picking, I will look at some of the potential players that might land at that spot over the coming days and weeks. After all, the draft is still almost 2 months away.
