I know its a bit late, but hopefully better late than never. I was away from internet communication for a few days and couldn't address this earlier.

The final World Cup rosters were announced and Erik Karlsson will be the lone representative for the Senators organization. Other potential hopefuls, such as Mark Stone (Canada), Cody Ceci (Team NA), Mika Zibanejad (Sweden) and the bigger longhsot, Bobby Ryan (USA).

It is interesting to note that former Senators Robin Lehner, Jacob Silfverberg, Marian Hossa, Zdeno Chara and Milan Michalek will all be participating.

Zibanejad was passed over in favor of a couple of Penguins in Carl Hagelin and Patric Hornqvist as well as Silfverberg and Carl Soderberg.

As for Stone, it was a pretty tall task and it is tough to argue with the likes of Joe Thornton, Claude Giroux, Matt Duchene and Brad Marchand, who were the remaining forwards named for Team Canada. The talent pool is incredibly deep and also omitted were the likes of Logan Couture, Taylor Hall, Tyler Toffoli and Ryan O'Reilly, just to name a few.

Ceci, who I thought had a legitimate shot at making Team North America, was edged out for one of the three remaining spots by Shayne Gostisbehere, Jacob Trouba and Colton Parayko. You could make a case for Ceci over Trouba, given both are right-handed shots and bring a different set of tools I am not saying they had a quota or anything, but the management staff seemed to lean toward getting as close to an even ratio as they could in terms of US and Canadian born players players.

Every NHL team is represented, but the Senators and Devils (Cory Schneider) are the only two teams that have only 1 representative from their organization, every other club has at least 2 players competing.
