The Canucks Go Crazy, But A Christmas Miracle Occurs

Last night the Coyotes played the Canucks in what can only be described as the hockey version of the movie Jack and Jill - something so bad that at first, you can't turn away, but then you quickly realize that you are revolted and you turn it off.

Mike Smith let in four goals and made seven saves. He was - mercifully - pulled in his first game in over a week. That time off did wonders.

Overall, the Coyotes allowed a brutal 40 shots and though they somehow managed to get 39 themselves, they still lost by six and played with all the intensity of my Uncle Chuck at vegetarian barbecue.

The loss puts the Coyotes at 11-22 which means for every game they win, they lose two. How about that?

Also, it is now over a month since they beat anyone but Edmonton, a fact I know I keep mentioning, but it just blows me away. If you eliminate the games between the Oilers and Coyotes, the last place team in the NHL is your Arizona Coyotes.

Geez, maybe that name change wasn't such a good idea.

"Star" goalie Mike Smith - who has one win in his last 11 starts - still has five years left on his contract.

The Coyotes allowed three PP goals last night on six attempts. To even let that happen on purpose would be difficult.

I don't even know what to write about right now, there isn't a single positive going on with this franchise. Ice Arizona bought the team, tried to make everyone all positive about the situation and then immediately sold 51% off to a guy who may or may not be backing out of the deal. The team is garbage, the coach is out of answers and the only moves the GM has been able to make involve fringe NHLers.

Its a disaster that needs a new a direction and new people running the show.

Oh, and if you somehow felt like reading this much about the league's worst team, the Christmas miracle I mentioned was me not throwing my remote threw my TV when the Canucks made it five nothing.

It's the Oilers tonight. I can barely mask my enthusiasm.

But then its a break. I think we could all use it; this is getting ugly.

Thanks for reading.
