The Capitals resume their NHL schedule after almost a week off.

When last we met them the Capitals were in first place. They are still in first place, only now they have games in hand over their closest competitors.

Tonight, without the injured for six weeks Andre Burakovsky, they will take on the Red Wings, who are one of the worst teams in the NHL. Sadly, the Red Wings streak of 246 straight seasons in the playoffs is about to come to an end.

They sit last in the eastern conference and fourth last in the entire NHL. They have lost ten of twelve games. Yikes.

The Caps on the other hand score at will and will likely win today by a score of 6-0. They are on a six game winning streak. The game starts at 2 and tomorrow they'll take on the Rangers.

The Coyotes play tonight at 8 eastern, which is a pretty weird start time if you happen to live in Arizona. It feels like I do as it's ten degrees today and my homemade ice rink is melting.

The Coyotes have been playing better as of late, but it still requires a lot of anti-critical thinking to look at games like Thursdays vs the kings (a Coyotes victory) and get excited. At once point the Coyotes were up 2-0 but the Kings had doubled them in shot attempts and once again Smith was holding the fort and propping up Dave Tippet's reputation.

A Win is a Win, but no team in hockey gets more of them while playing terribly than the Coyotes of late. That said, Perlini and Dvorak are always worth watching.

The Sharks, on the other hand are one of the best teams in hockey. The Coyotes always seem to play against them though. Doesn't matter. At this point, Brett Burns alone is worth the price of admission.
