In this edition of the hotstove, we share our picks for the San Jose Sharks vs Vegas Golden Knights series.

I like the Sharks in 7.

It's not because I think the Golden Knights have been lucky or anything like that – they were full marks for their 1st round win over Los Angeles.

I just think San Jose matches up pretty well with them. They have much more speed than LA – we saw how much Anaheim struggled to keep up – and I think they're more talented.

I love the way the Joe Pavelski - Evander Kane duo has been playing. Logan Couture is better than anybody Vegas has on their 2nd line. Brent Burns and Marc-Edouard Vlasic are the two best defenders in the series. The Sharks have some clear advantages.

For me, it comes down to goaltending. If Martin Jones' play is in the same ball park as Marc-Andre Fleury's, I like the Sharks to take care of business.

Peter Tessier

This series is probably the most under hyped series of the remaining four and that seems a bit unfair. It's got a great matchup up of speed and skill along with some fantastic storylines. Possible return of Thornton, Vegas' continuing run, Kane in the playoffs on a contract year, and more.

I see this series being as fast as any with some diabolical goaltending to boot but I'm taking Vegas in 6 games because I can't keep betting against them anymore.
