In this edition of the hotstove, we discuss which second round series will be most lopsided.
Todd Cordell
I think Nashville is going to take care of St. Louis in convincing fashion.
The Minnesota Wild out-chanced the Blues by a significant margin in their 1st round matchup but Jake Allen played the best hockey of his career and that was enough to lead the Blues to victory.
I think the Predators have more high-end talent on their roster, especially on defense, and expect Allen's numbers to regress quite a bit (he is not going to continue stopping almost 96% of the shots he faces). If that happens, I think the Predators will make this a pretty short series.
James Tanner
I don't necessarily think any of these series will be lopsided because I think most of the matchups are pretty even. After the first round, I would think Nashville will crush St.Louis, but the Blues must know they played poorly and will be trying very hard to turn it around. They do have a good team. In the end, I think the Capitals are going to have the easiest time. The Penguins are beat up and the Capitals are motivated - this is their year and I think they'll defeat the Penguins in five games.
