In this edition of the hotstove we share our thoughts on the best current rivalry in the NHL.

I think I get more excited for Penguins v Blue Jackets games than any other. Pittsburgh has been one of the NHL's best teams for years and any time Columbus has been relevant the Penguins have always stood in the way.

The Penguins have the advantage in high-end skill, obviously, but the Blue Jackets have finally put together a roster that can at least give the Pens a run for their money.

There is always bad blood when these two sides meet and Columbus seems to be one of the only teams that can get under Sidney Crosby's skin, although that only seems to help him elevate his game.

Every meeting is fast, physical, and you can see the hatred. I want to see them go at it again in April.

Some would say the Pens and Flyers, others might suggest the Habs and Bruins while those in Western Canada long for the Battle of Alberta. One rivalry that is gaining traction and could be a wonderful playoff battle is the Blackhawks and Minnesota.

While it might no be the best rivalry in the NHL it is growing into something that could be the best. Close physical proximity, same division, one a 3 time cup winner and now both are two top teams are the exact ingredients to make a rivalry.

I'm hoping for a seven game death match in the playoffs between these two teams and I think it could happen which as we all know seals any rivalry.
