USA Finishes #1 Group A; Drury Promoted

Team USA has now won six straight games after losing their opening game to host Team Germany.

Anders Lee scored the game-winner with a nice assist from Buffalo Sabres super center Jack Eichel with 7:03 to play in regulation time.

Dylan Larkin also scored for Team USA.

Jimmy Howard finished with 16 saves against the grotesquely talented Russian firing squad.

Team USA (6-0-0-1) clinched the top seed in Group A heading into Thursday’s quarterfinals.


Team USA will play the fourth-place team from Group B.

The New York Rangers have made a dramatic organizational management shift.

Rangers assistant general Chris Drury Has been named general a manager of the AHL Hartford Wolfpack replacing incumbent Jim Schoenfield. ""Schoney" has been reassigned inside the NY Rangers front office.


The Rangers have also fired Hartford Wolfpack head coach Ken Gernander.


Last month, the Buffalo Sabres reached out to Drury when former GM Tim Murray was fired. The Sabres reached out to their former team captain and current New York Rangers AGM to interview for their GM vacancy.

Drury declined Buffalo's interview request. Drury reportedly consulted with the Rangers management team and concluded it was not the appropriate time to take the next step and become a GM. Drury declined Buffalo's request.


Drury and Pittsburgh Penguins AGM Bill Guerin are currently playing key roles on Team uSA's management team at the IIHF World Championships in Cologne, Germany.
