VISIT BLUE JACKETS BUZZ TV

Tonight at 7pm, for better or worse, 'Fire The Cannon' show reaches it's 100th episode. We will celebrate a little by doing some giveaways such as Blue Jackets tickets, gift certificates to Buffalo Wild Wings, HockeyProspect.com prize pack and also PostGame prize pack. Bone up on your Jackets trivia and 'FTC' history and join up on the show's chat tonight for your chance to win.

Lori Schmidt and Eric Smith will still talk hockey and the Blue Jackets as the league has reached the All-Star break. We'll take an assessment of the first half of the season, talk about Ryan Johansen representing the CBJ at the All-Star festivities and talk about the Brett Lebda signing and how he has played so far.

We will also be doing our normal “Little Bit of This, Little Bit of That,” with Jeff Little and our Prospect of the Week.

Should be a special show, would love to have you there.

Here is some of the guests that 'Fire The Cannon' has had over the 100 episodes:

General Manager Scott Howson, Asst. GM Chris MacFarland, R.J. Umberger, Derick Brassard, Kristian Huselius, Derek Dorsett, John Moore, Grant Clitsome, Matt Calvert, Ryan Johansen, Will Weber, Cam Atkinson, Allen York, Asst Coach Brad Berry, Asst Coach Dan Hinote, Springfield coach Rob Riley, Jason Chimera, Clay Wilson, Tom Sestito, CBJ radio play-by-play George Matthews, TV play-by-play Jeff Rimer, TV color analyst Bill Davidge, radio color analyst Bob McElligott, Springfield Falcons radio play-by-play Mike Kelly, Greg Wyshynski, Scott Morrison, Andy Strickland, Craig Custance, Tim Sassone, Ft. Wayne Komets play-by-play Bob Chase, Adrian Dater, Patrick O'Neal, Mike Colligan, Tom Reed, Scott Torgerson, Rob Kunz.
This by no means is the complete list and I have appreciated all the guests that have been on over the years and also the past co-hosts.

Will Jackets Grab Niittymaki?

The San Jose Sharks put Antero Niittymaki on waivers yesterday and teams have until noon today to put in a claim. One of the benefits of being the worst team in the league is you get first chance at any player on waivers. GM Scott Howson has to be taking a long hard look at Niittymaki as the goaltending situation is not what it needs to be. Curtis Sanford has surprised many by his play this year and, unfortunately for the Blue Jackets, Steve Mason hasn't surprised anyone with his continual poor play since his rookie campaign.

According to CapGeek.com, Niittymaki is in his final year of his contract where he would need to be paid the remaining portion of his $2 million contract which would be less than half of it at this point of the season.

By no means is Niittymaki going to be a savior but he could help stabilize a situation on the team that has jumped the tracks. It would also allow the team to get a closer look as his play and see if he would be worth offering a contract to in the off season.

Falcons Get Back Into The Win Column

By: Damon Markiewicz

The Springfield Falcons needed a win on Wednesday and
they found a way to get a well deserved two points in the standings.
Alexandre Giroux scored a pair of goals and goaltender Paul Dainton made
37 saves, including one on a penalty shot in leading the Falcons to a 4-2
victory over the Worcester Sharks at the DCU Center. The Falcons now get
ready for a trip to Portland, Maine on Friday.

"We had to find a way tonight and guys did just that," said Falcons head
coach Rob Riley. "We had some guys step up, just an overall good team
win."

The Falcons got off to a good start in the first period recording the
game's first five shots, but Worcester used the power play at 8:39 to go
ahead when Mike Connolly collected his eighth goal of the year giving the
Sharks a 1-0 lead.

In the second period, the Falcons found the equalizer at 7:25 when Giroux
scored his first goal of the night evening the score at 1-1. The Sharks
had a chance late in the second period to regain their lead when Brandon
Mashinter was awarded a penalty shot, but Dainton come up big and made the
save keeping the game deadlocked heading into the final 20 minutes.

"Paul (Dainton) was great and he has done that before for us," said Riley.
"He competes hard and he made some very key saves at important times in
the game."

In the third period, Giroux found himself alone in the slot at 5:10 and
the sniper didn't make a mistake giving Springfield a 2-1 adsvantage. At
8:39 of the final period, Dane Byers tallied his ninth marker on the
campaign extending the Falcons lead to 3-1. Tomas Kubalik added a late
power play goal for Springfield to build a 4-1 cushion and helping close
out a Falcons' victory.

The Falcons are now 4-1-1-0 against the Sharks in the season series.
