Rumor world quiet this monday morning, with the exception of one concept that I would say is more of a concept than a rumor, in that I was told this has been contemplated, but not gone anywhere yet. It's a concept that we have discussed before, but based on the situations of both teams as the deadline is now only slightly a month away is worth a discussion.
That concept is the Blues moving Shattenkirk to the Lightning for Ben Bishop...
Why would they do it?
Both teams are staring at their wide open windows right now to win a Cup. Both have sky high expectations. Both lost in the Conference Finals a year ago.
The Blues have gone from the team last year with the best save percentage in hockey to the team with the worst save percentage. Ken Hitchcock is in his final season in St. Louis and he loves big goalies like Bishop. Bishop is also rather famously from the St. Louis area.
The Lightning have all the pieces in place to make a Cup run, but need more scoring from their D and have given the goaltending reigns to Andrei Vasilevskiy. Shattenkirk immediately makes their power play formidable....
Should they make this deal?
