*QUICK HIT RUMORS AS UPDATED ON THE RUMOR CHART: ADDED HEATLEY AND PHANEUF

Komisarek:> While there are some rumors that a short-term deal with Mike and the Habs may be being discussed, it is looking more and more like the Defenseman may be heading elsewhere. With the pending departure of Heatley and all of that cap space I am hearing that Ottawa could very well be in the Komisarek game. There are even reports of a possible trade that would send Heatley to Montreal for a slew of players included with Komisarek's negotiating rights.

Of course there is the whole "Sens trading within the division" question. Talking to people yesterday about this I received several varying opinions. But two GMS (not at all connected to this) said that they would have no issue making a trade like this.

GM#1: "I am of the mindset that the other team is also trading with us, so it's a wash. And of course, we GMs all are cocky SOBs and feel that we are getting the better deal, so why not try to lessen a team in your own division?"

GM#2: "When you are talking about players who are making that kind of money you simply must get the best deal possible. No luxury in eliminating possible suitors."

As far as Heatley goes, you can likely rule out Edmonton I am told, with a source telling me "It is a longshot, I would look further south in Alberta."

As far as Calgary goes...Dion Phaneuf is available and this could be the perfect solution for the Flames. One source, who believes very much that there is a big likelihood that Bouwmeester is Calgary bound (rumors persist of Jay Bo building a home near Calgary already) talked of how strong a Calgary team with Jay Bo and Heatley in and Cammalleri and Phaneuf out.

Also, I keep hearing the St. Louis Blues are going to be MAJOR players in the Heatley deal.

On the Vinny front. More and more it is looking like it is down to LA or Montreal and that it will happen on Draft day.

"I give a Vinny trade a 90% chance of happening within 24 hours of the opening bell in Montreal."
