The fallout of the Heatley trade is all around us and I will write a story about how this went down in the last 18 hours as more info surfaces...

But this whole things makes me ask a very important question:

Should a "No Trade Clause" be nullified if that player demands to be traded?

I think it should. The fact is the Senators were left desperately trying to move this guy and he held all the cards. In essence, he killed the market and the Sens end up getting a lot less than his value just to start the season without distraction. They had to move him and yet when they made a really great deal with Edmonton back on July 1 the Sens got screwed.

And because of that, the entire summer was spent amidst distraction and turmoil. Bryan Murray made the right move here, and I also believe in the two players he received, yet Cheechoo is obviously a risk.

Michalek is awesome. Sens fans you will LOVE this guy. He skates like the wind, and to this day fired the hardest wrist shot I have ever seen live in a playoff game against the Red Wings two years back.

Mik and Cheech are two of the best players on the Sharks when it comes to HEART. The Sens did amazingly well by adding two positive people and subtracting a negative situation. The Sens locker room just got a whole lot better, and in my opinion this deal and the move for Pascal Leclair puts Ottawa back in the playoffs.

Still a lot depends on Cheechoo's health. One thing is for certain: The folks in Moose Factory just got their favorite son to play a hell of a lot closer and they will see him a lot more often.

I am also told that Sens are NOT finished and could still make a major (not as major of course) move for a D-man this weekend.

Also, look for Zherdev to Edmonton as well...more to come.
