Update: According to Darren Dreger's twitter Chris Pronger's foot will require surgery and he will miss 4-6 weeks.

It is widely assumed Brad Richards won't be dealt until the deadline if at all, but this morning I received 4 texts along with a few calls from sources regarding Brad Richards.

After digging a little deeper I get a sense there may have been a shift in the last week or so in the Stars thinking that may have tipped the scales more towards moving Richards than retaining him.

One source added, "The Stars are doing all they can to avoid being in the same scenario that Waddell found himself last season with Kovalchuk. The parallels are there for sure. Two teams in a playoff run, two teams needing their best player for that run, two teams terrified of losing such a valuable asset for nothing this coming summer. So like the Thrashers were, the Stars are looking for players who can help them now and apparently there are a few teams, mainly Buffalo, Toronto, and The NY Islanders who are offering deals which are perceived better than what NJ ended up giving Atlanta for Ilya."

And from what I can tell this is pushing a few of the other teams involved, particularly the Rangers and Red Wings, to consider getting more serious.

"The Rangers possess what the Stars most value," my source added, "They would love to get hold of Dubinsky."

There is also a rumor out there surrounding a deal which was nixed by a player refusing to wave his NMC to go to Dallas, but my source doesn't believe this to be the case adding, "Players in general don't balk at going to Dallas. The organization has a great rep and the tax structure in Texas is extremely attractive to the bigger contract players. The difference can be millions."

On the Kings...

It has been a while since the Kings have been on the Rumour Mill, but today for some reason I keep hearing their name connected to the St. Louis Blues...

Devils Watch is On...

There is nothing new to report, but there has been no easing of the tensions nor has their been anyone coming out and saying "all's well." I am tracking this extremely closely now.

Coming up today....

Game center on the PS3 and Kevin Allen and I had a great discussion about 24/7 in the latest edition of our podcast..plus I am tracking the Isles/Vancouver, and the Canadiens who continue to look to address their defense via trade...

What's the Buzz?

1. How much is Brad Richards worth with an extension?
2. How much without and extension?
3. Make your best offer...
4. Do the Kings and Blues make sense as trading partners?
5. What changes do you think are coming for the Devils?
