Been a crazy rumor day. getting off the phone to update has been a task...but here goes.
On Mike Green...
The Price tag is high and everyone is kind of assuming a #1 pick is included....however...I am starting to hear that the Wings are asking for goalie Ilya Samsonov, a very BIG goalie prospect that the Caps have in their system, with Holtby still in his prime for what would look like several years...
This deal would HAVE to include more from Detroit because the Caps are looking at a rental in Green and I am not sure if they will be bringing him back in...
A source said, "The Wings will have to sweeten the pot significantly, but there is a fit here on both sides.."
On a possibly related note...The Wings have scratched Athanasiou for tonight's game. Claiming illness, but was scratched in the third period of the last game...imagine him on the Caps?
On Maroon...
Everyone assumes that Maroon could be moved as a rental and then sign an extension in Edmonton this summer...He loves Edmonton and more importantly Connor McDavid loves Maroon and wants him to stay...However.... the Blues are trying to land Maroon. No big deal right? Well Maroon is a native of St Louis and St Louis is the kind of town people move back to all the time. I have always felt that St Louis and Buffalo are the two NHL cities that hold a huge attraction for players who want to put down roots and those who are from either inevitably want to raise their families there...
On Pacioretty....
Calgary is making a push right now...The Devils have also called in the last few days...One of my sources swears up and down that the NY Islanders are going to be in on Pacioretty in the end.
