Pekka Rinne To Miss 3-5 Weeks & All-Star Game, Brodeur Great Fit For Preds |

The Nashville Predators have announced that goaltender Pekka Rinne will miss the next three games and the All-Star game due to a knee injury. Rinne has not just been the best goalie in the NHL this season but in my opinion (and the opinion of many) the best player in the NHL. Carter Hutton has been very good when asked to perform, but isn't this the perfect spot for Martin Brodeur?
The Predators have lightning in a bottle this season and when you consider they are atop the NHL at this point, and Rinne has a history of injuries, why not have Brodeur as an insurance policy to help you through a potentially long playoff run?
On Dubnyk....
Is there any goalie who has more lives in the NHL than Devan Dubnyk? There is no question he can play when he's on his game, and there is no question that he is inconsistent in an almost consistent way... I am told the Wild made this move as a precursor....to see what's there.... They made it early and there is still time to pick up the kind of goalie you want in the Western Conference for a playoff series... Not a lot of time though, because making the playoffs in the West is far from assured.
I will be back to the rumor update, a chart update, and of course the hockey Buzzcast at 1 PM
