There is a lot of speculation going the Matt Duchene may not show up for camp in Colorado and if that does indeed happen it will speak volumes for how this situation has turned. Duchene is NOT the kind of person who would not show up for camp unless something is very wrong. It is being speculated by people close to the situation that Duchene is pretty upset at what he and his agent consider to be "more than fair offers from teams who want Matt."
It would highly complicate things for Sakic should Duchene holdout here. Sakic is trying hard to move him but has set the bar at a level that is almost impossible given the way Duchene played last year. That is the talking point I keep hearing at least. Many teams have made substantial offers, but if Duchene holds out then will those teams lower the offers?
I don't think so...but it has Sakic and company very worried.
Chevy extended in Winnipeg...
The Winnipeg Jets are extending the contract of GM Kevin Chevaldayoff. I love this move. I have been a fan of Chevy since his AHL days in Chicago and I really do believe he has put together a great group of players and prospects...which is all he can really do as a GM. I also feel Winnipeg may be the team to watch in the West this year...
Senators removing seats...
The Ottawa Senators are removing 1500 seats from their Canadian Tire Centre to "right size" the seating capacity to around 17,000...Brent Wallace of TSN says they are doing this to boost demand for season tickets...Less seats does mean less seats after all. I can't remember a situation like this before...can anyone out there?
