Talking to an NHL source there is a rumor out there that Taylor Hall has been talking to the Devils about NJ acquiring Nail Yakupov. There are reports out there today that Yakupov will be starting the season in the press box in Edmonton. Remember that Yakupov asked for a trade last season and really hasn't fit in with the Oilers, despite improving his two-way play on the ice and still being extremely young and talented offensively.
Bruins in on Fowler...
The Bruins were in on Winnipeg defenseman Jacob Trouba as well, but apparently the Jets did not like a package involving B's defender Torey Krug. At least not yet. Now I am hearing a deal is "the closest yet" involving Anaheim's Cam Fowler and the Bruins appear to be a top of that list.
The New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders have also had discussions regarding Fowler.
Jets trying to convince Trouba to stay
Keep hearing this. The players and team really want Jacob to remain on the team and some have told me they really feel there is still a possibility he could be convinced to stay with the team.
Isles and Yotes talking?
I am looking into another rumor regarding the Islanders and Arizona Coyotes. It would be a major swap of young prospects. Right now it's "off the record" but I am planning on talking to a key source this afternoon. More on this later or possibly in the podcast.
