NHL Rejects Kovalchuk Deal! (now what??) |

The NHL has rejected Ilya Kovalchuk's contract saying it circumvents the NHL's salary cap.
Nobody goes against the Father...I mean Lou Lamoriello. This is going to be fascinating. I have some emails out to key people at the NHL to see what the Devils and Kovalchuk can do to get around this.
All in all, based on how the Hossa deal barely squeaked through last year, this should not be shocking...however, what this means could very much change the landscape of everything and possibly push Kovalchuk, a star player, to the KHL...(remember Bobby Hull)
Or perhaps to another team willing to pay 10M for this year only (the NY Rangers)..
After I texted him to tell him of the news, one team owner just texted me saying, "I knew it! How the f***k can you have him making 550 in 2027!!!"
