The Florida Panthers have signed forward Aleksander Barkov to a six-year, $35.4 Million contract extension (an AAV of $5.9 Million).

*******

It is looking more and more like the Canadiens are going to try and make a major play before the deadline, and the latest name I have heard (from three sources since the weekend) is Andrew Ladd.

Much has been written about Ladd/Byfuglien Dilemma...for most of the year it appeared both would be moved and now as of late Winnipeg is showing signs of re-signing Byfuglien...

However, both could still go...One GM tells me some believe the Jets are being crafty about this in order to maximize return on Byfuglien by "pulling him off the table."

It really doesn't matter what their intention is...this has made Byfuglien more valuable....even if they do re-sign him...
