So after being snowed in for 24 hours the mood in the Eklund household is starting to turn...Funny how the kids and everyone suddenly get cabin fever when stuck together. It goes from fun, fun, fun to KILL, KILL, KILL on a dime! Things are happy now, but I can tell we are one leaky sippy cup from World War 3.

Anyway, back to Rumors.

On Chicago, Tim Thomas, and Carey Price...

There is an interesting situation brewing in Chicago....With the Hawks having their best shot in years at a Stanley Cup will they really go with Antti Niemi as their guy? You all know I am a huge Niemi fan, and have been for quite some time. I blogged on him when he signed and tried to tell everyone what a huge signing he was. I wrote that he would be their guy this year in my predictions blog.... I would run with him. I would. But the question is will the Hawks?

Today Bruce Garrioch wrote that the Bruins may move Tim Thomas, or at least they are "hearing offers." I think this is a bad move for Boston. I know Tim has struggled this season, but can we really pin the Bruins struggles entirely on last year's Vezina winner?

The Hawks could take a run at Tim Thomas. How they would fit him in would be another story. You would think the Hawks would have to be able to either move Huet or send him to the minors.

but that being said, I still doubt Thomas is moved at all...

As for Carey Price....

The Hawks have let it be known they would like him and boy would he ever be a fit as well. However, if the Price Wars really do take hold there will be a number of teams involved. In fact I am adding Price to the Trade Rumor Chart Today I am still working the percentages, but the teams I hear are most interested are Edmonton, San Jose, Dallas, and Chicago. Kind of funny. I haven't heard Price is officially available yet, but I was talking to an Eastern Conference GM who told me he will be sent to the West...When I officially add Price to the Chart I will be taking off Halak. I was told this morning Halak is not moving under any circumstances.

What else I think is noteworthy is how certain goalies work better in certain situations. If you put Price on Anaheim, NJ, Dallas, or even Toronto he could win a Vezina. He is so sound positionally and if you get a defense playing sound in their positions in front of him look out. The kind of team the Canadiens are lends itself more to Halak's style than Price's

On the Bruins...

Apparently last night's loss was a "straw the broke the camel's back loss" and I was told the Bruins are now aggressively talking to teams. While I hate attaching times to rumors, the Bruins are going to make a move in the next 48 hours I was told. I was also told the Bruins are now the top of the pack for Ray Whitney. They also are in on Ponikarovsky and could get in on Owen Nolan should the Wild shift to seller mode.

On Koivu and Selanne to Buffalo...

I am hearing the Sabres are also very in on Whitney, but I am told the Sabres will make "anywhere from 2-4 moves including trying to pull both Selanne and Koivu out of Anaheim." I expect Sabres fans to think I am crazy here...

much more as the day goes along....
