Do YOU Care About NHL Players in Europe During Lockout?

Many years ago, I spent some time in Bern, Switzerland, and got to experience what a rabid hockey country Switzerland really is. It caught me a bit by surprise, to be honest, because the Swiss have never been a major international hockey power. At any rate, that experience opened my eyes to how amazing -- and often different, yet still familiar -- the hockey atmosphere and traditions are overseas.

With that being said, I have never become a big follower of European hockey. I appreciate their leagues. I'm grateful for some of the great players the leagues have produced, and I have friends and acquaintances among some former and current NHL Players who've played in various leagues in Europe. The majority have enjoyed the experience.

Even so, there is just so much hockey over here in North America to follow, that I don't even get to pay as much attention as I'd like to the AHL and junior and collegiate hockey, much less the European leagues. Of course, it's a bit of a different story during NHL lockouts. Suddenly, there's a little TOO much opportunity to track other leagues, especially with so many NHL players suiting up there during the work stoppages.

It is the aim of everyone here at HockeyBuzz to focus on writing about the topics are readers care about. As such, while I dabble a bit in chasing rumors about European teams pursuing NHL players, I've been a little hesitant to make it a major point of emphasis thus far. I would love to hear our readers' opinions on this particular topic.

In the meantime, we are working on several projects to diversify our coverage realm during the lockout, while still covering all the bases as regards to the work stoppage.
