per Darren Dreger TSA. Dustin Byfuglien has been extended in Winnipeg for 5 years at 7.6 Million per season.

Very smart signing and the five years is a huge plus for Winnipeg...this also confirms how Byfuglien WANTED to stay in Winnipeg, because he would have gotten 7 as a UFA...no doubt.

This could however affect the future of Trouba in Winnipeg and could perhaps open up the possibility of a Hamonic for Trouba deal..

from earlier today....

*******

Breaking: Alex Pietrangelo has been placed on IR by the St. Louis Blues. Depending how serious this injury is, Kevin Shattenkirk's availability will be determined.

Talk to any New York Rangers fan and they will say the same thing, "Either trade Keith Yandle or play him on the first power play unit instead of Dan Boyle."

Yandle will be expensive, but he is also hugely important to the Rangers. Any Philadelphia Flyers fan over the weekend will tell you all about it. Everyone I talk to says the Rangers are looking to move him despite the fact that he is one of their top guys and the small detail of the Rangers fighting for their playoff lives.

The Dallas Stars are in hot pursuit I am told; They are looking hard at both Yandle and Dustin Byfuglien. Yandle looks more reasonable. The Los Angeles Kings are right there still. LA general manager Dean Lombardi has always been a huge supporter of Yandle.

San Jose and Vancouver are also involved, but as of this point still from afar.

On Drouin...

The tide appears to once again be shifting on Jonathan Drouin.

As of last week most of the hockey world believed Yzerman was not really interested in even discussing moving Drouin. The Blues continue to have the most interest followed by Winnipeg, Anaheim, and the NY Rangers. Some scouts have suggested to me that the Rangers could move Yandle along with two prospects to Tampa for Drouin.

Andrew Ladd...

This is another player who is starting to draw interest as a rental. Montreal are high on Ladd, but much will depend on their place in the standings as the deadline approaches. Dallas and Detroit have both talked to Winnipeg I am told and may be more likely.

On Sam Gagner...

Sam Gagner has played exceptionally well for the Flyers and will get tons of time with Couturier out of the lineup until after the deadline. Gagner is a player the Blues have scouted (along with Hartnell in Columbus). The Ottawa Senators are also interested in Gagner.

We will discuss all this and more on Today's Hockey Buzzcast
