Three Ducks in a Row, get the pun?
I have been hunting down a report today on CKAC today (a french station in Montreal) that is saying the Canadiens and Stars are talking. The rumor reportedly says that Brad Richards and Matt Niskanen are who the Habs would get.
I have been able to find very little substantiating this at all with the exception of one leak that I believe to be a decoy. Decoy leaks happen all of the time and certain people in the hockey world are kings at it. Since I do rumors every day of the year I have a pretty impressive list of people who put out rumors that I do not trust.
Either these people have "fooled me once" or they have been very good at spreading just enough valid info to appear credible. Usually a good decoy can be sent out through someone who is close to the team.
That is the case here. This source is close to Gainey but has been used by the organization on at least three specific occasions according to my notes on him.
So why would the Habs send out a decoy?
The answer is simple. They are up to something else and are trying to get the massive Habs media looking in the wrong direction.
So who are they after?
According to my checking around, both the Flyers and the Habs and to a certain extent Buffalo are looking at three d-men.
Bouwmeester, Pronger and Morris.
And it looks to be getting pretty heated, especially for Jay Bo who is also of course on the radar of many other teams including Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto and even NJ.
