The Ducks announced they have signed defenseman Sami Vatanen to a four-year contract extension worth $19.5 Million (an AAV of $4.875 Million per season). The Finnish defenseman was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1.

Due to Anaheim's internal budget, as well as other important RFAs that remain unsigned (Hampus Lindholm and Rickard Rakell), this move could signal the end of a veteran Ducks tenure with the club. More than likely Cam Fowler will be the odd man out.
