I really wasn't paying very much attention to this because I am not a gamer. Sure we have three generations of video consoles in my house due to the brat teen and the Big Angry Man, but I have never picked up a controller or longed to.

Nope.

But gaming is BIG business. I didn't realize HOW big and for EASports to even be considering putting John Tavares on it's cover for NHL13, well, I guess it really is a big deal. Big enough to drag out big guns for the voting.

In all honesty, it seems a little silly to me to submit votes 9,000,000 times, but our avid fans are doing just that and have catapulted JT into the semi-final round along with Claude Giroux, Evgeni Malkin and Pekka Rinne. Now, that's a bit funny considering that the Predators and Islanders formed a Twitter alliance to vote for each other. Soon they will be competing against each other.

But really, you want a goalie on the cover? You won't be able to really see his face or who he is, but good on the Preds for getting this far.

About now you're wondering where the hell I'm going with this... Okay. I am annoyed at some of the comments I've read from those who believe EASports would NEVER put an "Islander" on the cover of "anything."

Um, why not? John Tavares is a good Canadian boy who had a stellar career long before he joined the Isles. Canada had to bend the rules of Junior Hockey in order to allow him to play at the tender age of 14 and he is progressing very nicely into a bonafide superstar.

SO WHY THE HELL NOT PEOPLE???

But it's really up to you to help along. JT already has the support of PK Subban, Patrick Sharp and Steven Stamkos. JT's teammates have been relentless in their efforts to garner votes and even Kevin Connolly has entered the PR business for JT.

Aren't you tired of getting picked on by fans from every other team -- especially those still playing??? Don't you think it would be nice to see an Isles logo on the cover of NHL13? Even if you don't play it.

I'd like to see it just to shut a few people up. Like the reporter who told me EASports would never put an Islander on the cover of a box.

Really? Let's see.
