The DiPietro Name - No Longer Verboten

I finally got my laptop back. Thank the IT gods at my job for resurrecting the 35 lbs of hardware I schlep with me everywhere. I did have a problem getting NHL.com to load though, but once I did, I was treated to Ron Wilson offering up a mention of our rehabbing goalie as STILL a potential candidate for Team USA for the Olympics in February.

Mind you, Brian Burke has said on more than one occassion that he feels Rick DiPietro is a world class goalie. I am guessing he is holding out the hope that Rick may rehab enough to still be the Rick that can represent the USA in Vancouver.

As an Islander fan, it was nice to hear the vote of confidence for a change instead of the derogatory remarks about our plethora of goaltenders.

My personal confidence was bolstered when I saw the photos from Mr. DiPietro's recent nuptuals. Not only did he make a handsome groom to a stunning model bride, but he was thin and healthy looking.

Certainly, as Ron Wilson said, Rick's had three serious operations, but time will tell how well he will be able to play come December when the TEAM USA roster is actually finalized.

It had to be a great vote of confidence for Rick. I certainly took it as one.

*Ron Wilson comments can be found on NHL.com.
