And now for something completely different. Quick, hit the "back" arrow if you have to as this is truly a 'chick' article, or you can call this "blogging under the influence" (did you know purple Gatorade goes very nicely with Vodka?) but as I had very little going on today in the hockey world, and no one would get back to me about the wedding of the year for the Islanders, so I decided to play some Google games. This is what I came up with.

The Banns of Marriage for Ricky and his beautiful Cassandra were announced by the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Manhattan. I’m guessing that’s her parish and not his since he DOES live on Long Island, or so we've been told.

Their wedding gift registry (at least one of them) was with Bloomingdales, so I went to take a look thinking that the tall, thin, beautiful Abercrombie model probably had some pretty expensive taste. Boy was I surprised.

Their china pattern is the very elegant, understated Dentelle by Monique Lhuillier for Royal Doulton. It seems they received all the place settings they wanted, but they still need the chargers. (That would be the big ass plates that go under the dinner plate that you never freakin’ see unless it’s a holiday ‘cause you can’t actually USE them. They’re for show. They make the dinner plate ‘look’ nicer. They don't even fit in the dishwasher. They're stupid unless your name is Martha Stewart.)

The stemware they chose was on sale at half price and the Vera Wang aluminum Vesta Wine Cooler was a whopping $40.00. Their towels are white and light grey. (very masculine.) You know….Had I seen this registry BEFORE they got married, I may have actually sent them something.

The big ticket items on the registry are… get this… Luggage. Excuse me? Yeah, Luggage. She must have really taken to the line in Steel Magnolias. “I love you the way I love my luggage.” It ranged from $415.99 to $900.00. Personally, I buy luggage as a DIVORCE gift not a wedding gift.

So, in actuality had Ricky been playing this past season and been the superstar he SHOULD have been, this wedding would have been splashed across the news; but it was just another Long Island wedding of two young, wealthy, beautiful people. Like a Long Island Barbie & Ken.

Enjoy your honeymoon Rick and make sure you’re in good shape come September. You’ve got some catching up to do.

If you're in Hicsville tomorrow evening, stop down to the Islanders Team store at the Broadway mall to say hi to Bruno Gervais and Nate Thompson. I'm going to a Lighthouse meeting, so I'll have something polically 'incorrect' for tomorrow.

Nite all
