As we get closer to the beginning of the new season, Monday, August 26th must have been Islander day around the web.

There was this piece of video by Dan Rosen of NHL.com

A decent preview of the Islanders for this coming season, but nothing new to report. Dan Rosen feels that Matt Donovan will be able to fill Mark Streit's shoes on the blue line. I'm pretty sure Garth Snow feels the same way.

Also on NHL.com was Brian Compton's piece which is a brief history lesson as well as a preview. Brian's views are always well written and heart felt as he really has the pulse of the team and the fan base.

With Olympic training camps this week, the net is also filled with stories from both the Team USA and Team Canada camps. I can't believe we're already just a few months away from the 2014 Olympics. Wasn't 2010 Vancouver just last year? Time flies so quickly.

This video with Kyle Okposo discusses both the Isles and Team USA. But check the banner on the wall of the rink: Team First. Great message for the Isles as well as Team USA.

John Tavares is at Team Canada's camp and was skating on a line with Steve Stamkos. Canada will be a powerhouse of talent, but they seem to be worrying about the size of the Olympic ice.

Question though, with so many of the players having played in Europe during the locke-out, aren't most of them accustomed to it? Should it be that much of an issue?

I heard the European players like to clog up the middle and you can "cycle all day on the boards," but I think with the time the players spent in Europe will pay off.

Yesterday the pricing for the Yankee stadium game was released. Of course it is a little pricey for my wallet, but it will be a historic event none-the-less. It would be great to see lots of Blue & Orange in the stands.
