10:06 pm: Loved having Chris King call the game for me. Wish it had been a win. Bruins beat the Isles again, even though there were some bright spots on the Isles squad. Nino did what Nino was supposed to do -- score.

What is upsetting is that Rhett Rakhshani left the game early in the first with concussion like symptons and will be evaluated tomorrow. Art Staple did a great job Tweeting out the game and even had his recap up within minutes. Check him out if you have a Newsday account.

There were other bloggers there and plenty of coverage. My coverage was from my kitchen table having dinner with my daughter for her birthday.

I will be at the game tomorrow.
9:57 am: In a round about way, I have just found out that Katie Strang has left the Newsday Islanders beat for greener pastures at ESPN.com. I have not found out who Newsday will give the beat to. (probably another starting intern.)

I take that back. Katie herself confirmed Art Staple has the beat for now.

Good news for those of us who are interested in seeing the Islanders Rookies, but can't get to the barn. It seems BOTH games, tonight's closed game and tomorrow's charity event game, will be webstreamed on both MSG.com and the Islanders main website!

After only two days of practice, the rookie squad will take on Boston's youngsters for back-to-back games. Last season, the Isles fell short at TD center. Let's see what they can do this time.

I have to say, all the Islanders fans I ran into this weekend while shopping and running errands are really excited to see this team play. There is a new sense of possibility, and dare I say -- pride.

That pride could be well represented by this great new 40th Anniversary logo.

Who knows what it will look like on a black jersey... ugh.

If you're on Twitter, Islander prospect and all around good guy, Rhett Rakhshani is on Twitter as @itsrhett. He is one of those players on the bubble of making the big squad.

Let's see what he can do tonight.

Rookie game 7 pm with host Chris King. Yep, let's get this party started!!
