9:49 pm: Nino gets his first NHL goal. Roloson gets his first start of the new season. And Alexander Ovechkin gets tthe game winner.

Yep.
Just as expected.

11:23 am: Islanders confirm Dwayne Roloson will be the starting goalie. (good move) Jack Hillien will replace Wisniewski for tonight's match-up.

The Islanders make their first road trip of the season and have to face the winning Washington Capitals. After reading the preview of the game on the Caps website, I'd like to say a few things.

1) I appreciate the sympathy and understanding as to the Islanders injury woes with the loss of Streit, Okposo, Schremp, Tavares and the not so sympathetic loss of James Wisniewski.

2) I had no idea they called the Verizon Center the "phone booth." Not exactly a great connotation and one that most youngsters have no reference for.

3) The Islanders were referred to as "the Fishermen" in their preview more than once, for that reason alone the Isles should -- BEAT THEM RELENTLESSLY IN THE THIRD.

While the Wiz sits and ponders his very expensive actions, the hole is an opportunity for either Jack Hillen or Bruno Gervais to earn back a spot on the roster.

Dwayne Roloson, who has just celebrated another birthday, may or may not get the start. My personal opinon? Give it to him. Rick has had two starts to blow off the rust. Let Roli get some action. If he does not go tonight, he certainly will on Friday.

The Capitals PP unit has only scored once on 13 chances, but their PK has been perfect so far. On the other hand, the Islanders PP has been successful 38.5% of the time and their PK 77.2%. Okay, it's only two games, but stats are stats.

Can Blake Comeau and Josh Bailey prove they have finally arrived? Will Matt Moulson have to write another check for $500 for the Islanders Children's Charities for another goal? (I hope so.) Will Radek Martinek shadow Alexander the Gr8 so closely that he will render him ineffective? Okay, I'm pushing it there.

7pm start but I will be addressing a communications class at that time. I'll catch up with the game as soon as possible.
