Well, the Stanley Cup has been awarded to the LA Kings and history has been made. Yes, an eighth seed has won the Stanley Cup proving that anything can happen once you get to the dance.

This is why the NY Islanders don't care how ugly it seems as long as they make it to the playoffs. The problem is getting there. With that in mind, changes are sure to happen.

Today Art Staple tweeted that long time goalie coach Sudarshan "Sudsy" Maharaj. That sent a few snickers across Twitter as a cost cutting tactic. However, the truth is that most teams only have ONE goalie coach and the Islanders have had two for a pretty long time. One of which I haven't exactly been overly impressed with over the years. (did I say that out loud?) But it's true. Mike Dunham will now be the one and only for the Islanders.

Earlier this spring, Jesse Demers, whose training techniques were well documented by Islesblogger.com, left the organization. (He got engaged to someone out of state.) Jesse's position has been filled. I knew who filled it, but the name escapes me at the moment and I'm too lazy to look at the directory.

The Islanders had three assistant coaches last season, they are sure to start with two this season just as the 29 other teams in the NHL. I'm pretty sure they'll even have a head coach and an assistant or two in Bridgeport. Cost cutting? I wouldn't know. I have no idea what coaches and assistant coaches make in the AHL or the NHL.

Lastly, sponsorships SVP Justin Johnson left for job at MSG. He has already been replaced. And personally some of the sponsorship decisions I found to be questionable.

This is business. People come and go. In the three decades that I have been at my company, I cannot tell you how many people have passed through our door. I have lost count and I do payroll. Sales staff, IT staff and creative staff have all turned over repeatedly. Our company has expanded and contracted over the 30 years depending on the economy and our client base. It should not be cause for concern.

Our concern should be who will be on the ice and where the hell will they play after 2015.

Lastly, if and when the new NHL season begins the Islanders will NOT be below the cap floor. That would be against the CBA rules and in all honesty there would be other NHL clubs that would be pissed as hell.

Okay then.. on to the draft then!
