Another Isles First Approaches & 3rd Jersey Design? |

Mon 12:22 pm: I know some of you are banned from commenting on IPB, so let's put the conversation here as well. It seems that another website says this is indeed the new 3rd jersey of the NY Islanders.
I'm hoping above hope, it is incorrect.

I was going to be able to live with "SOME" black in the jersey, but you shove GREY to replace WHITE and I'm out.
Sorry guys. My personal opinion is, if this is the actual design they opted for: It's just FUGLY.

Yes! You heard it here first. Once again, the Islanders will be doing something that no one else in sports has ever done!
What is it you ask?
I don’t have a freakin’ clue! For about a week, I have been playing 20 questions with a member of the Isles PR Department. The news should be released either tomorrow or Tuesday. Supposedly I will love it.
Now, these are the only clues I have been able to get.
1) It has never been done in sports before.
Okay, leave it to the Islanders to come up with something new that has never been done before. Of course, that may not be a good thing, but I’m assured, it is.
2) It is a local partnership.
Even with the NO Vote, we are indeed ALL Islanders. Even in this horrid economic climate, there are local businesses that are able and willing to partner with the NY Islanders to create something NEW.
3) It is not as obviously edible as an ice cream puck or sports drink.
What? What kind of clue is that??? But indeed, that was an answer. Excuse me, but what is not “obviously edible”? Okay, maybe the first guy that looked at a lobster said “that is not obviously edible” and then he did and we all rejoiced. But as a sports partnership? What is not “obviously edible”?
I was so hoping it was NYI logo pretzels like the Flyers have. They are really cool. However, I don’t think that’s it.
Truth is, the Islanders have many excellent sponsors that partner with them. Certainly the sponsors come and go due to financial situations or ROI. They are those local companies that are looking for two things: exposure and a good time with hockey. As fans, we should support them because they help keep the NY Islanders right here on the Island.
But what do you think the Islanders have up their sleeve THIS time? For someone who believes there is NOTHING new under the sun, what could be a Sports First in sponsorship?
Ice Girl Christie knows… I should have coaxed it out of her on Friday. Bloggerfail again!
Well, hopefully something on-ice hockey-ish will happen this week.
