And the Beat (down) Goes On. Really CNN? Really?

It’s the Dog Days of August and I haven’t had anything of substance to write about on the Isles hockey front. I’ve been told that there will be something soon that will be “fun” and I “will like it.” However, don’t get too excited because it is not an “on ice” item.

While I can’t do much with such a “hint” as I did with the trade ‘head’s up,” I also can’t get in trouble for it.

So what did I have to talk about for three days? Nunca, nada, Zippo. So what happened while I was otherwise ignoring Islander Country? All freakin’ hell broke lose over a social media event.

I’m sorry, what? The biggest news in Pens World is that the Islanders are having a viewing party when MSG replays the historic game from 2/11? Hey, Pens bloggers, how’s Sid and Geno coming along? Can’t you talk about that? You have to bust our shoes over a Summer Meet-Up because MSG Plus is airing “THE” game of the season?

Personally, I watched most of this game with my hands over my eyes the first time around. I’m not too sure I’ll watch much of it this time around either. But that doesn’t mean that others won’t enjoy it. One person who really enjoyed that game was -- BOBBY NYSTROM.

Yes, during my interview with him for YES! Islanders, we discussed that Pittsburgh game and he looked at it as a turning point for the young squad that was sadly necessary.

So for all twelve goals, “a combined 346 penalty minutes with two line brawls; a combined 23 games in suspensions handed out; an NHL owner threatening to leave the League because of the game's chaos; and a player threatening to take down his bedroom poster of said owner because of his threat.” (Thanks Greg.), give the Isles fans a rest.

Or better yet -- let’s get Trevor Gillies to attend also. Even better than better yet - let’s get the reporters to show up. How about it Katie Strang, Art Staple or John Jeansome? Better yet, how about Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune or maybe even Joe Yerdon who started this mess. Let the reporters who put the fingers to computer keys come sit with the fans if they want to debate. No? Okay.

Side note: Another debate that can rage until there’s an answer is “Who will be the Isles next Captain?” While there could be reasons for certain candidates to win the “C’ this season, the selection will ultimately be up to the men in the room. That is, of course, if history repeats itself.

My personal selection? Kyle Okposo. Okay, discuss.

3:41 pm:
OKAY, NOW I'M PISSED!
So, I receive this link of CNN Sunday in my mailbox and I almost crawled out of my skin watching it.

I watch CBS Morning news on Sunday, not CNN. Actually I never watch CNN, so I have no idea who these gentleman are, but obviously one admits he knows nothing about hockey.

I would say they also know nothing about the NY Islanders, but I'm guessing someone there at CNN is friends with the Pens bloggers who seems to have taken a MeetUp, just like all the others we have had, to a different level.

Oddly, the scroll under the description of "NY Islanders Celebrate Replay of Pittsburgh Fist Fest" are more newsworthy items such as "Car bomb injures 33 in Algeria," "Militants launch deadly attack on Afghan governors compound" "Roadside bomb in Baghdad kills Iraqui solder Injures 10."

BUT YOU'RE UPSET THAT THE ISLES ARE HOLDING A MEET UP WHEN MSG PLUS IS REAIRING A GAME FROM THIS SEASON?

Where is the sanity?
