1:47 pm: In a surprise move the Islanders have recalled on loan from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Rhett Rakhshani (okay, not so bad) and KEVIN POULIN.

Marty Reasoner has been placed on IR retroactive to 1/6 with the broken hand he sustained, but even Art Staple of Newsday is scratching his head over recalling Poulin.

Um.... Is the Big Cubano still hurting?
Is Nabokov packing his bags? Is Al?
Is it just a test to see if they CAN send Nabokov packing and still have both the Isles and the Tigers competitive?
WHAT???

And all three goalies are at practice at IceWorks prior to the flight to the Carolinas. Weird.

11;26 am: In the area of the Coliseum? Want the official JT All-Star t-shirt or puck? Want it signed?

Check this out from the Islanders main website:
On Monday only, visit the New York Islanders Team Stores at Nassau Coliseum between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. and get the official Tavares 2012 All-Star player t-shirt for $25.

Any other Tavares shirt is 20 percent off when an All-Star shirt is purchased!

But hurry! The first 15 customers who purchase the Tavares All-Star shirt will get them autographed by John!

Also in stock is the official 2012 All-Star Game puck, and the first 15 people to purchase the game puck can also get the puck autographed by JT!

Okay, all that good will -- out the window! Everyone back to work!

While all those players who attended the ASG made friends, socialized, chatted it up and made nice-nice, forget it. The hunt is on and the race is tight. The good thing is that perhaps lessons were learned about what to expect from those players that can make teams look stupid.

I'm pretty sure that JT opened a few eyes over the weekend, but that only means that he'll have more defenders draped over him when he's on the ice.

The Islanders hit the ice today for practice in preparation for tomorrow's game against the 'Canes. Perhaps Art Staple will be back on the beat after Mark Herrmann took the reigns for the All Star Weekend. We'll see.

For those of you in the Atlantic City area who are missing hockey, you can hit the Boardwalk and take on the AHL All Star game tonight at 7 pm. Tickets are still available and they (unlike those in Ottawa) are cheap: Level 2 under $30 each. Nice.

With the shoulder injury to Calvin deHaan, it will be Casey Cizikas who will be representing the Sound Tigers. The game will be broadcast on MSG tonight. Remember the AHL are where NHL stars are developed.
