Like I have said before, their is never a dull moment being an Islander fan or covering them for that matter. In this episode of the podcast we are joined yet again by Jim Baumbach. If you listened to our last podcast, we asked Jim about the media event that was held by new Isles’ owner Jonathan Ledecky.

Flash forward a few days and Jim breaks the story about a potential Islander arena at Belmont Park Race Track. Therefore, we had to have him back on. We asked Baumbach about the Belmont news and the other possible site next to Citi Field in Queens. We also discuss how this would be paid for and discuss what could be changed in Brooklyn to appease the hockey team.

I simply find it mind blowing that a team that could not get a new arena for decades suddenly has multiple potential suitors. I remain skeptical of all of this but their is clearly some substance to this story.

We also talk about the Isles search for a replacement for former play by play man Howie Rose. The search has been narrowed down to a short list of five. One is former Isles radio broadcaster Steve Mears and another is Rutgers basketball play by play man Ed Cohen.
