Two Weeks Away! NHL Draft Tidbits & More

It's officially two weeks away.

Everybody's getting ready for Christmas come early, with the Draft so close. We've seen a real shift in trends as more and more teams are bringing in prospects to do personal interviews, evaluations, meetings, etc. Some teams are bringing players in for on-ice activities, others are bringing them in to show them around their facilities and town and convince them of their future in a specific organization. It's the day for the Scouting Departments.

- The Atlanta Thrashers Scouting Department will be on hand to handle the draft for Winnipeg under their new General Manager. We still don't know if any of them will be retained, though. Seems a bit foolish to put such an important thing into hands of those who may not have jobs past July 1st.

- The Maple Leafs had Ty Rattie in Toronto recently, showing him around town and what not. Interesting to note, they did the same thing with Greg McKegg last year.

- The Buffalo Sabres had Mark McNeill and Duncan Siemens in town. McNeill looks to be a guy a few teams are really starting to warm up to after an impressive Combine showing.

- Anyone else notice that Dougie Hamilton was measured at 6'7 during the NHL Combine? We're entering Tyler Myers territory now, and I doubt teams wait as long as they did with Myers.

- Montreal had Beaulieu in town, according to his twitter. Interesting if he was available for the Habs.

- Don't expect any NCAA hopeful kids to be in town for your favorite player. They have to pay their own way and can't accept money from the NHL Teams for trips, as it would void their NCAA Eligibility. This includes guys like Biggs, Mayfield, Miller, Grimaldi, etc.

That's the latest in NHL Draft News. Look for the final two players in the 30 prospects series to finish up next week. The Leafs and Canucks are left.

If you haven't, I also suggest checking out your specific teams prospect site, if they have them. Both SabresProspects.Com and LeafsProspects.Com are out there. Bookmark them!
