Crisis averted in Montreal where shortly after Alex Galchenyuk filed for salary arbitration it's been announced he has signed a 3 year, $4.9 million a year deal with the Canadiens, as per Lavoie on Twitter. This deal has NO NTC/NMC. It's trade ready if Chucky has to go.

This is a quality move by Marc Bergevin as most thought Chucky would come in at the same value as Jonathan Drouin ($5.5 million per). Stick tap to Bergy for getting a reasonable contract signed and here's to a motivated Galchenyuk coming into training camp.

Galchenyuk produced 17 goals and 27 assists in 61 games in what was considered a step back in his development and an apparent banishment from Center duties. Perhaps this contract will provide that motivation to Alex to really develop his 200 foot game for the coming season.

*Update: G Charlie Lindgren re-signed for one year on a two way contract. Lindgren is a top goaltending prospect the Canadiens signed as a free agent. He has performed well in the AHL and played well in his very limited NHL experience, 3-0-0 1.65 GAA .943 SP%. He was 24-18-1 with the St. John's IceCaps in the AHL last season with a 2.56 GAA, .914 SP%, and 5 shut outs.
