Wash, rinse, repeat..

Mental floss without clarity..

A lot of cottage country nonsense stimulated by brown pops..

Well, fifteen days since free agency has opened and we have a structure in place without the finishing touches. We have all talked about additions or removals that need to be administered, but nothing has transpired. All that we have are unsubstantiated rumors that percolate the mind, but never get us a cup of coffee. Goaltending, another guy for our overloaded blueline???. A proven forward that has put up points that fits in cohesively with our group? I do love all of the banter that comes across the inter-googles, but we are in a holding pattern. Something has to break out other than Bucky Phillips or Michael Burham. Obviously, the gloves are gripping the stick in the fire and something will be done. What that is however, is yet to be seen, and the speculation is through the roof. Too many players and not enough roster spots. The bodies on the bench for opening night are not set in stone. They can’t be. Adams has to make a play, because he knows he is holding too many cards in his hand that could have already been laid on the table. It’s a game of chance when the cooler is almost empty, and the eerie silence is only broken up by the noise of the loons on the lake. It’s three am, and we are waiting for the dawn for him to realize he is awake. I know the bacon will sizzle and the eggs will crackle, it just might take another month to know that we are finally fed. So many other teams have already started their day with stomachs full. Heck, Detroit and Chicago are already thinking about dinner. Sometimes hunger is better satiated when it really sets in.

So we wait…

The waiting place..

Dr. Suess said it brilliantly in one of his books that hasn’t been tried to be ignorantly banned..

You were read it when you were young, but the words are applicable to adult life. The excerpts should be part of a general managers handbook –

Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You’re off to Great Places!
You’re off and away!

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself
Any direction you choose.
You’re on your own. And you know what you know.
And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.

You’ll look up and down streets. Look ‘em over with care.
About some you will say, “I don’t choose to go there.”
With your head full of brains and your skates full of feet,
You’re too smart to go down any not-so-good street.

And you may not find any
You’ll want to go down.
In that case, of course,
You’ll head straight out of town.

Lol… hopefully my twisted metaphors at least are appreciated a little bit..

Waiting for a train to go or a bus to come,
or a plane to go or the mail to come,
or the rain to go or the phone to ring,
or the snow to snow or waiting around for a Yes or No
or waiting for their hair to grow.

Everyone is just waiting.

Waiting for the fish to bite
or waiting for wind to fly a kite
or waiting around for Friday night
or waiting, perhaps, for their Uncle Jake
or a pot to boil, or a Better Break
or a string of pearls, or a pair of pants
or a wig with curls, or Another Chance.

Everyone is just waiting….

As we refresh our websites hoping for an epiphany, I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. Western New York is a beautiful place and has so much to offer. Wherever your head lay, I hope you feel the same way. I can’t wait for something to break as the season turns. Until then, let’s sit back and enjoy the place that we are in. We are the team on the upswing while everyone scrambles to put a formidable lineup out on the ice, worrying about the stagnant cap.

Sometimes not making mistakes can be a formidable weapon. Watch your enemies make them.

With free agents taking less money it will be interesting to see what arbitration brings. The landscape has changed and we will see if everything falls in line.

Grab a 24 of Blue Tins and relax. September will come soon.

Thanks -
