I am trying to come up with something to say that transcends all of the articles and interviews that I have read and listened to today, but it is quite impossible. Everyone is expressing themselves with true heartfelt emotion. Everything is dynamic in its own way. One of the greatest announcers in NHL history was ours, and he was loved by all. An icon, a legend, a gentleman beyond words. He is gone, but his calls will live on forever. Nobody was better at drawing out the emotion in a game. If you were listening on the radio you felt you were there. He was so naturally descriptive. It was a gift that he gave us for decades. When you think of the Sabres, RJ was the constant that bonded us all through the good times and the bad. His off the cuff, brilliant narrative moments, made the highlight reels historical. I, along with the Sabres nation, are so saddened. You will be missed dearly Rick. You essentially were the backbone of this franchise.

I apologize for not making this blog longer, this is a huge loss and the tributes are littering the internet. I will try and delve into his career and what he meant to a generation of Western New Yorkers and beyond at another time.

Rest in peace RJ

This world is very hard at times, but memories will always be with us to get through the day.

Thanks -
