What can I say? All of the angry thoughts the fan base has had have been exhausted. We are done. Management, coaching staff, including the big meatball, star players, it is all on the table as far as I am concerned. The UPL brain lapse against Arizona should have made everybody steaming, and ready to prove that they are worthy of being considered a legitimate threat in this league. Get home after licking your wounds and play in front of a pre-holiday crowd. Refocus with a days’ rest, come home to a familiar place, break bread, come out of the locker room determined to beat a moderate opponent before Toronto and its fan base comes to town. Where are our leaders? I know I have praised Granato for his intelligence, and his articulate way he speaks to the media. To be honest, I thought he had what it took to bring a group together and fight for their right to be recognized. What transposed was embarrassing. What they gave to the fan base was exceedingly brutal. It was barbaric.. Losing to Columbus like that is deplorable. We are not supposed to suffer this long. We should not have to endure a lack of consistency. If it is not Donnie, then it should be Kevyn and Terry. If it is not them, then our mediocre assistants have to go. It is simply not good enough. As I have said before, we had Mike Peca in our organization and we let him go. How are the Rangers doing on their third rebuild while we are trying to figure out which one we are exactly on? Nobody is running through walls except for a few hungry guys. As the losses pile up, and the schedule gets more demanding, I am fearful of the inevitable. If it doesn’t turn around immediately with our team health finally getting reasonable, this is going to be a maelstrom. At the bottom of the whirlpool once again, as the faithful keep paying and watching –

Game 33
Buffalo Sabres, 13-17-2, vs. Toronto Maple Leafs, 16-7-6
Thursday, December 21st at 7:00 pm
Crossroads, Buffalo New York

Well Mr. Adams and Mr. Pegula, here we are again. Heaven forbid it is not your fault. At one time it used to be a privilege to go to the game and be a buffer against the fans from the north. They have always been an opportunity to compensate a season ticket holder to offset the cost of enduring the pain. But it was always a toss-up, especially during the holidays, make the money or embrace an experience of camaraderie with fellow Buffalonians. What has transposed during the first half of the season was avoidable, and you have stood back and watched. I hammered the importance of a full throttle first three months. You knew it was important, but you let it slip by, and we have suffered at the hands of your ineptitude once again. Historically these games are fun, and more times than not, we have prevailed and sent the buds contingency home deflated. I will however continue to tune into this current tire fire because I care so much for this team. Can we get some hope? Can we get some John Belushi moments in the next few weeks? Buffalonians generally do not like the Leafs. We hate raking them, and we love when we end up on the right side of the scoreboard. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Just show us something boys.

Put more biscuits in the opponents’ net and protect your own with ferocity. Put a winning streak together. Do something! The press conferences about compete level are getting old. Look into the mirror and realize that what you are giving is not enough. That you have sucked more than a shop vac.

Ugh. I had to go there. I love this team and always will. Why do they continuously push us away?

Notes from preventing our fan base to stick their heads inside the oven –

What do you know sports fans? Jacob Bryson cleared waivers! Thank god we protected that asset for so long. Comrie next? How could we do such a thing?

Ryan Johnson should be playing all of the time. We have nothing to lose at this point. Our big Johnson is effective in some aspects of the game, but he is obviously slow and is compromised when teams are coming after him with their speed. I am not saying that he was not worth the investment, but he should be in the press box on some evenings. It could be beneficial all around.

I am increasingly being aware that Mattias Samuelsson just might not be the player that we thought he was. When healthy, he is serviceable and blocks shots on nights when he decides to elevate his game. Unless he shows more during the second half, his signing to a lucrative deal was premature. We have a big guy in Power, I have mentioned before that number 23 might be a good piece in a trade package. I am not sold on Clifton as of yet, but he has shown up in the last handful of contests with a purpose and deserves some credit. We have a lot of bodies and not enough roster spots. It will be interesting after the mandated freeze what our general manager does when he has to pull his hands out from under his keester.

Thanks, and as always, go Sabres.

We are not on the warpath..

Go Bills on Saturday against the struggling Chargers. If we can’t get some pleasure on the ice, hopefully we can get it on the gridiron.
