After gaining five of eight possible points in their first four games, Lindy Ruff's Dallas Stars (2-1-1) play host to John Tortorella's Columbus Blue Jackets (1-2-0). Game time at the American Airlines Center is 7:00 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Southwest.
This is the first of two meetings between the inter-conference teams. The teams split their two games last season with each team winning on its home ice.
The Stars are coming off a frustrating 4-3 overtime loss to the LA Kings on Thursday. Dallas, outplayed for much of the night, overcame three separate one-goal deficits to earn a point but lost on a disputed OT goal. Both Patrick Sharp (concussion) and Patrick Eaves (lower body) went
down with injuries.
Sharp has been placed on injured reserve. The Stars recalled Gemel Smith from the Texas Stars to fill the roster spot. Eaves is listed as questionable for Saturday's game. Ales Hemsky (groin) has been cleared and is slated to play against Columbus. Jiri Hudler (illness) remains sidelined, as do Cody Eakin (knee) and Mattias Janmark (knee).
Columbus is playing the second half of back-to-back games. The team is coming off a 3-2 home win over the Chicago Blackhawks. Nick Foligno and Zach Werenski led the way offensively with a goal and assist apiece.
On the injury front Ryan Murray (upper body) is questionable. Both David Clarkson (back) and goalie Joonas Korpisalo (groin) are out.
