QUICK HITS: SEPTEMBER 11, 2017

1) The Flyers Rookie Camp officially opens today at the Skate Zone in Voorhees, NJ. The players are scheduled to be on the ice from 10 a.m. to noon. As always, the sessions are open and free to the public. The listed Rookie Camp roster follows.

Forwards: Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Connor Bunnaman, Radel Fazleev, Morgan Frost, Ivan Kosorenkov (camp invite), Pascal Laberge, Oskar Lindblom, Nolan Patrick, Isaac Ratcliffe, German Rubtsov, Anthony Salinitri, Matthew Strome, Maksim Sushko, Carsen Twarynski, Mike Vecchione, Mikhail Vorobyev.

Defensemen: James de Haas, Mark Friedman, Frank Hora, Samuel Morin, Philippe Myers, Travis Sanheim, Reece Willcox.

Goaltenders: Carter Hart, Alex Lyon.

2) Full camp starts on Friday. Most of the veterans are already in town, and skating daily.

3) On the Flyers' official website, the final two profiles of my offseason series on Flyers prospects are now online: German Rubtsov and Pascal Laberge. Later today, there will be a Rookie Camp preview.

4) Flyers PR director Joe Siville and I were discussing this topic the other day: when was the last time the Flyers entered a training camp with so many NHL jobs open to be won by rookies? That became one of the main themes of the Rookie Camp preview piece. In my recollection, the last time there were this many potentially NHL-ready prospects was 2005. That year, the likes of Jeff Carter, Mike Richards, R.J. Umberger and Antero Niittymäki were Flyers rookies. Later in the season, Ben Eager and Freddy Meyer also moved up to the NHL roster.

5) The Flyers Alumni Team kicks off its 2017-18 series of games on Sept. 30. On that day, coinciding with the start of the Philadelphia Blazers' season, the Flyers Alumni will play against the Blazers Coaches in a 12:20 p.m. game at the Skate Zone in Northeast Philadelphia. The Flyers' Community Caravan will also be onhand outside the facility, with inflatables, games, prizes and more. These events are always a great time for families. We will post more details as the date draws closer.

6) Sept. 11 Flyers Alumni birthdays: Glen Seabrooke (1967), Mike Comrie (1980) and the late Mike Byers (1946- 2010).

7) Sept. 11 in Flyers History: In 1995, coming off a breakthrough season upon his acquisition by the Flyers, restricted free agent John LeClair reported to training camp without a contract. On Sept. 11, 1995, he agreed to a multi-year contract that paid him north of $1 million per season. The contract quickly became outmoded, however, as LeClair rattled off the first of three consecutive 50-goal seasons. Two years later, LeClair briefly held out at camp and, after his return, a renegotiated contract with a substantially higher salary took its place.
