Lasse Kukkonen has cleared waivers and will remain with the Flyers, at least for the time being. With the re-injury suffered by Ossi Väänänen (broken finger) last night, Kukkonen is likely in the starting lineup tomorrow in Montreal.

Update: 4:35 PM

Last Saturday night, after Tampa beat the Flyers, several Tampa players said it was then-assistant Rick Tocchet that woke the club up after getting dominated in the first period. Barry Melrose had his say, too, but it was clear which guy the players took seriously.

So while I wasn't exactly expecting today's announcement hat Melrose is out and former Flyer Tocchet is in as head coach of the Bolts, I'm not shocked.

Prospect notes:

* The Phantoms are back in action tonight at the Spectrum, in the front end of a home-and-home with Hershey.

* Joacim "Sunshine" Erilsson turned back 24 of 26 today as Brynäs IF's J20 team routed Skellefteå AIK, 9-2.
