Canada Golden in rematch

They say that the Indianapolis 500 is the "Greatest Spectacle in racing."

Well, now, after Canada's amazing 3-2 victory over USA, can the Gold Medal game be officially dubbed "the greatest spectacle in hockey"?

That game was the most amazing game I've watched, save maybe a few playoff games. Both teams with nothing to lose and everything to gain, going for broke. Both teams getting strong goaltending. Both teams giving it their all.

It really is hard to find hockey better than this.

The Canadians got goals from Jonathan Toews, Corey Perry and an OT winner from Sidney Crosby. Ryan Kesler and Zach Parise, who had an absolutely outstanding Olympics, scored for USA.

Part of what made this game good was it was set up by a game the previous week to whet the appetite for the Gold Medal game a week later.

Amazing end-to-end hockey, ending in a fantastic overtime period. What a great way to market the game of hockey to everyone everywhere. If the NHL doesn't market the crap out of these two TEAMS fighting it out, not just the fact of Sydney Crosby scoring the OT winner, everyone in the marketing department should be fired.

The best game of the past decade deserves to be marketed to no end.

Also, another note: some people may not like the referees swallowing the whistle but I like it, it means that the players themselves don't expect to get a call so they try harder to stay upright.

Overall, there was nothing facepalm worthy of this game. Great job by both teams getting this far and the effort they put in. Also a big congratulations to Canada for their win. I bet somewhere, there's a very happy Joe Sakic.

Now, it's back to the grind of the NHL season, starting tomorrow with Avs-Red Wings. It did seem kind of wrong to cheer for Brian Rafalski- now things are back to normal.

Congrats Canada and I hope that we'll see you again in 2014 in Russia.
